To Strip or not to Strip? Empty To Strip or not to Strip?

Post  JTCope January 13th 2011, 11:35 am

Starting the bodywork on my 57. I know most will say it's best to strip the truck down to bare metal, but the truck is very straight and under the red paint job is the original green paint. Is it really necessary to get that all off the truck or can I just scuff it up good with a DA and primer over it? I've been told both.

What have you found is the best way to strip? I've always used a air DA sander (80-100) grit.

Thanks.

I guess it depends on what quality of paint job you want. You never know what will happen to the old paint underneath. Good luck, Bill
